Acronis Disaster Recovery provides cloud-based disaster recovery as a service (DRaaS) that enables organisations to restore critical systems in minutes rather than hours or days after a disaster. When a primary server fails — whether due to hardware failure, ransomware, natural disaster, or human error — Acronis spins up a replica of the failed system in the Acronis Cloud, allowing users to continue working while the primary system is restored.

Recovery point objectives (RPOs) as low as 15 minutes and recovery time objectives (RTOs) measured in minutes ensure that data loss and downtime are minimised for business-critical applications. Production failover routes traffic to cloud-hosted recovery servers through a VPN tunnel, maintaining network connectivity and application access transparently. Test failovers can be executed at any time without impacting production, verifying that recovery plans work before they're needed.

The platform supports disaster recovery for physical servers, VMware and Hyper-V virtual machines, and individual applications. Runbooks automate multi-server recovery sequences — starting servers in the correct order with appropriate delays to respect application dependencies. Custom DNS and networking configurations ensure that recovered systems are accessible with the same addresses and connectivity as the originals.
