ESET Full Disk Encryption

ESET Full Disk Encryption (EFDE) protects all data on a device by encrypting the entire system disk, ensuring that sensitive business information remains inaccessible if a laptop or workstation is lost, stolen, or decommissioned. With remote workers carrying sensitive data on portable devices, full disk encryption is a fundamental security control and a requirement of most data protection regulations.

EFDE uses FIPS 140-2 validated encryption algorithms, meeting the cryptographic standards required by government agencies and regulated industries. The encryption process runs in the background without disrupting the user, and once complete, operates transparently — users authenticate at pre-boot with a password, PIN, or smart card, and then use their device normally with no noticeable performance impact from the encryption layer.

Centralised management through ESET PROTECT provides administrators with visibility into the encryption status of every device in the organisation. Recovery keys are securely stored in the management console, enabling IT teams to unlock devices when users forget their pre-boot passwords. Encryption policies can be enforced automatically during device enrollment, ensuring every new device is encrypted from day one.
