Google Workspace Essentials provides access to Google's collaboration tools — Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Meet, Chat, and Calendar — without requiring organisations to migrate their email to Gmail. This is ideal for businesses that are satisfied with their existing email platform (such as Microsoft Exchange or another provider) but want to leverage Google's industry-leading real-time collaboration and cloud storage capabilities.

Each user receives 1TB of pooled Google Drive storage for Essentials Starter, or 1TB per user plus additional pooled storage for Essentials Enterprise. Google Meet in the Enterprise tier supports meetings with up to 500 participants, with recording, attendance tracking, polls, Q&A, breakout rooms, and noise cancellation. Live streaming extends reach to up to 10,000 viewers for all-hands meetings and company events.

Essentials Enterprise includes advanced security features like Google Vault for archiving and eDiscovery, data loss prevention for Drive, access transparency logs, and endpoint management. AppSheet, Google's no-code application platform, is included for building custom business applications that connect to Google Sheets, Drive, and external data sources.
